Filling My Cup Week of 6/28/2024
Getting ready for the relaxing side of summer, lots of clothing recs, and how I've been filling my cup lately!
Happy Friday and happy (golden) birthday to my little sister, Lucy, the real influencer of the family!!! We’re thinking about hosting a small BBQ and bringing out the bounce house. It adds some fun for the kids and allows us to relax. I’m also loving the small break from the recent heatwave. I love the summer, however, I don’t like when it's too hot to step outside.
This week wraps up the end of a very hectic month and while I am so grateful for all of the opportunities, I’m ready for a slower paced July/August. My focus for the future - have fun, chill out, and get in a lot of family time. If you’re hoping to hear more about my recent LA adventure, stay tuned for Mom Musings this upcoming Monday.
What I’m *not* Reading
A Little Life - I know many people say this is their favorite book or how impactful it was for them, but I had to put it down. It felt very heavy (it is) and didn’t put me in a good headspace. I’m not saying you won’t love it, but I’m putting a pause on it for now.
What I’m Watching
Anyone But You: On my flight to LA I had a full to-do list (watch Summer House, edit things, do some To Be Magnetic work - more on that soon) but my wifi didn’t work. After 30 minutes of unsuccessful troubleshooting, I gave up and played this on the plane TV… and it was so bad. Like, bad bad. This is coming from someone who likes their fair share of cheesiness. They really don’t make romcoms like they used to!!
Summer House: I’m still kind of keeping my opinions on this to myself because the cast is real people (not characters), however, I will say that I am addicted. Like, so addicted I’m watching it in the back of Ubers on the way to LAX fighting car sickness.
What I’m Loving
Boxer Shorts - I’ve been living in these and am a huge fan of this boxer trend. Whether I’m running to the park with my toddler, going to the grocery store, or at school dropoff, I think they can look super cute but feel super comfortable! I have them in green, red, navy checkered, and the light blue pinstripe.
2-pack Sunglasses - Given that I am constantly breaking or losing sunglasses, I am not one to invest in nice ones. I’ve been wearing the same style forever and wanted a new pair and saw this pair on my girlfriend, so I used the Amazon reverse-image-search (coolest thing ever) and found a similar looking style for way less. I got them this week and love them!
Pointelle Tshirt - As someone who lives in jeans and a t-shirt, I’m always looking for elevated tops. I love the detailing that makes it feel a little more *special* than an everyday white tee.
Prada Perfume - I haven’t had a “scent” in a long time, but I was at a dinner in LA and my friend was wearing this and it smelled SO delicious so now I’m considering it as my new staple.
What Lucy is Loving - The birthday girl (and resident fashionista) favorites!!
What My Family is Loving
Night mantras - For all my moms out there who are dealing with overnight wakeups and soothing sessions, I put together some of my favorite mantras to repeat to myself.
Baby bathtub seat - Now that our baby is comfortably sitting and more active, he’s outgrown the bath seat (primarily for the newborn stage). We added this seat to our tub and he is loving it - he can splash around, but is still very contained.
Double jogging stroller - We recently purchased a double stroller to keep at my parent’s house for the summer and landed on this one (thanks to all of your advice over DM!!!). It is such a smooth steer/ride, supposedly great on all terrain, easy to fold/pack, and the boys adore.
How I’m Filling my Cup
Work - This week I filled my work cup up and it felt so good. I love having dedicated work time and it reminds me how grateful I am to do this for a career. At home it is a constant on/off switch between work and mom so being away for 48 hours to truly focus on work lit me the F up!!! (Also made me consider leaving my house on computer-heavy work days).
GIVEAWAY - I want to do a giveaway for this community and am so excited to send one of you all of these goodies!! To enter, please comment how you’re filling your cup and I’ll randomly select a winner next week!
Filling my cup by waking up early to walk outside before work with my coffee and read a few pages!!!!! Realizing I feel like a new person when I add a few extra minutes for this
Filling my cup by honoring my body’s need for more rest — slowing it down in my second trimester with more reading, long walks and good food.
