Like many, I’ve faced my own mental health challenges and have found myself in a cycle of fears, worries, concerns, and self-doubt. This book was born from two practices that have profoundly supported me in quieting my mind and busying my hands: journaling and coloring.
Over the past six years, journaling has become my anchor. It began out of necessity when I was recovering from a concussion and I couldn’t rely on my usual screen-based distractions. I was restless, overwhelmed by my thoughts, and unsure how to cope. It was during this time that I turned to meditation and journaling and I quickly realized how transformative it was. As I wrote, I felt liberated and more at peace. Some days I worked through difficult emotions, and other days I just let my thoughts flow freely. What I loved most was the freedom – there were no rules or expectations, just the healing power of writing. Since becoming a mom, my journaling practice has become a sacred part of my routine. It’s an integral part of my morning ritual and a time when I fill my cup before pouring it into my children’s.
The second part of this book, the coloring affirmations, combines two other tools that have been essential in my mental health journey. Around the same time I began journaling, I also started incorporating positive affirmations into my daily life. I was struggling with negative thoughts and realized I needed to rewire my thinking. I began writing affirmations in my journal and repeating them aloud: “I am worthy,” “I am deserving,” “I am enough”. Over time, this simple practice changed the way I saw myself. So much so that I’ve even introduced it into my children’s routine. It may feel awkward at first, but there’s real power in repeating positive statements. The more you say or write it, the more you start to believe it.



The coloring pages in this book are a natural extension of the practices that have helped me the most. As someone with ADHD, I’m always looking to keep my hands busy. I’ve never found it easy to sit still, and keeping my hands busy helps me stay grounded. Too often though, I find myself mindlessly scrolling on my phone to fill this craving, which is the opposite of how I want to spend my time. I discovered that adult coloring books were a creative and productive outlet for me. After having kids, I realized that the activities we encourage for them, such as drawing and artistic expression, are valuable for adults, too. I’ve found it so joyful to embrace that childlike wonder through coloring and that is why I wanted to include these drawings for you. To bring these coloring affirmations to life, I collaborated with my friend and freelance graphic design artist, Hannah Sheridan (@hannah.sheridan.designs), who perfectly captured my vision.



The concept is simple: as you color in your affirmations, your brain absorbs their positive message while your hands stay engaged. You have complete creative freedom – these pages are your canvas! We designed the images 5x7 so they can be easily torn out, cut, framed and displayed.
