Filling My Cup with Platonic Love Crossover, Let Them Theory, Guided Meditation Sessions, and Toddler Lunches
Happy Friday my friends! I am excited for today’s post because it is a bit different than our typical Friday Filling My Cup segment as we are featuring two of my favorite people on substack - Aja and Aliza of
. I was recently included as a guest author in their weekly piece and I’m so excited to share some of the things that are filling their cups this week. Let’s get into it…Conversations with Cam -
Engagement Ring Trends, The “4 C’s”, and All Things Diamonds with Fine Jewelry Founder Stephanie Gottlieb
In this episode, I sit down with Stephanie Gottlieb to talk about her journey into the jewelry world, how she worked her way up from the Diamond District in Manhattan to setting out on her own, and how her business took off unexpectedly and grew into the luxury fine jewelry brand it is today. Stephanie shares how she has witnessed women find value in th…
What I’m Watching -
Cam: NightBitch - I’ve had this conversation with many of you in my DMs, but I had to stop this after about 15 minutes because the depiction of her life in early motherhood and, especially, the hard parts of it all felt a little too fresh for me. I can’t speak to the rest of the movie (although I’m very confused about the whole “dog” aspect of things), but it was a little too on the nose. That being said, I think it could be a good watch for people who don’t have kids or who’s kids are older? It was just a little too fresh for me (and many of you)
Aja: Traitors season three - because this cast has so many reality show contestants I love (Boston Rob! Ciara from Summer House! Chrishell!) and people love Traitors. But this is my third attempt to watch, and it is… not the charm. Can a Traitors fan please tell me when it usually gets good?!
What I’m Listening To -
Cam: The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins - I’m back on my audiobook for self-help book grind and loving this one so much. I’ve already used it multiple times and I’m only a few chapters in. I’ll do a full review once done!
Aliza: Back-to-back Bob Dylan and Timothée Chalomet singing Highway 61. The soundtrack from A Complete Unknown is insanely good. And I think Timmy deserves an Oscar.
Aja: Does anyone else always forget Spotify Premium comes with audiobooks? I finally remembered and am halfway through Kissing Girls on Shabbat, a memoir (narrated by the author!) about a mom of two leaving the ultra Orthodox Jewish community. If you like the show My Unorthodox Life, I’d recommend.
What I’m Reading -
Cam: Hardly Strangers - I’m a recent fan of 831 stories and getting on their PR list is one of the best things to happen to me (as a romance reader, you understand this win). This short-story spans entirely over one night, with the exception of some flashbacks, and is such a real, raw, and honest depiction of dating, relationships, past wounds, and intimacy (in my opinion)
Cam: I am trying to remember to film my monthly reads recap, so here is the one for November & December!
Aliza: I just finished Seven Days in June by Tia Williams for a romance book talk that Aja and I are hosting in Boston next month. Seven Days is about a best-selling erotica writer who reunites with her verrrry hot high school crush. It’s sexy but serious, and I barely could put it down — excited to talk about it with Aja and our readers in a few weeks.
Aja: I also just finished Seven Days! Now I’m re-reading Romantic Comedy (also for our book talk, ha) — an adorable romance about an SNL-esque writer falling for a pop star.
What I’m Wearing -
Cam: Week’s Round Up of 365 Days of Dressing for Me ALL LINKED HERE
Cam: Belted Wool Coat - I was recently gifted this jacket by &Other Stories and I love it SO much. I had been wanting a non-black wool coat, specifically with a belt, and this felt very kismet when they reached out. Comes in multiple colors, is super stylish, and very warm!
Aja: These jeans are incredible. Every time I wear them, a friend compliments my butt.
Aliza: My easy and “cool mom” uniform is jeans, Converse, and this faux-vintage NBA T-shirt. It’s as soft as a tee genuinely from the 90s.
Aliza: I also live in Nuuly rentals. Nuuly is so fun… and practical! We’ve gone to four-ish weddings per year for the past several years, and if I had to buy new outfits every time, I’d be bankrupt — but instead I get to love ‘em for thirty days and then send them home.
What I’m Eating -
Cam: To be honest I’ve been *so* bored by food lately, but I have been back into filming my toddler’s lunches and this is basically what we had for dinner the night before so I guess it counts as what I’m eating also
Cam: My friend brought me amango & gauva jerky bars and I am now ordering all of their products
Cam: I simply cannot get enough of these cookies (and neither can my husband or kids)
Aja: One of my New Year’s resolutions was to try a new recipe a week, and so far my favorite has been this carrot soup. It was soo easy and warming and delicious.
Aliza: I’ve been eating a lot of hella green pasta and lamb and hummus bowls — both meals my two-year-old loves, too! Since @ Caroline Chambers released What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking this fall, that’s pretty much all we make.
What I’m Doing -
Ora x Quiet Your Mind Session - I am legitimately jumping with joy that this is now an offering at one of my favorite healing spaces in NYC!!! Check out a red-light therapy, guided meditation, and acupuncture all finished up with some journaling in your Quiet Your Mind journal now available at Ora!
What I’m Loving -
Cam: I am newly obsessed with Edie Parker and their way of creating beautiful products for the cannabis lifestyle and this catchall is my new favorite staple on my desk
Cam: I wear a ton of Stephanie Gottlieb’s pieces and if you listened to the episode and want to shop her stunning website, you can now use code SGxCAM15 for 15% off!
Aja: Hanni sent me their in-shower moisturizer, and I have to admit I was skeptical that anything you put on your body while it’s wet would stick… but I’ve been using it for about a month now, and it’s not only hydrating but soooo yummy smelling.
Aliza: My Owala water bottle. I know they’re ridiculously priced ($30), but the straw feature and ease-of-use are unmatched. I accidentally dropped and broke my last one walking out of the house in the morning when I was (unsurprisingly) trying to balance forty-five different things, but I think I’m going to replace it with the Tropical color scheme. We need more brightness like this in winter!
What My Family is Loving -
Cam: I obviously got my boys these matching sweatshirts just in time for playoffs!! GO BIRDS baby!!
Aliza: The Microsoft To Do app. My husband, Sam, and I use this for shared lists (groceries, packing, etc.), and it makes collaborating and delegating sooo much easier. I appreciate how easy it is to “uncheck” a past item, so you don’t need to generate a new list every time you, say, travel or go to the grocery store.
Recent Saves -
Cam:
Aliza: Should I splurge and buy myself this fleece jacket?! It’s such a unique pattern for a winter staple; I love it.
How I’m Filling My Cup -
Cam: Spending quality and present time with my girlfriends. I’m going to share in more detail about the transformative experience I shared with two girlfriends this past weekend (check out Monday’s Mom’s Musings post for that), but I also just had a glorious 2-hour lunch with one of my closest friends, Emily, and it reminded me, again, of how much I love girlhood and my female friendships.
Aliza: Traveling to spend weekends with friends and family. Twice a month acupuncture. Therapy. Writing with Aja. As I’ve shared in Platonic Love, in the past year has been extremely hard: I was laid off and had a miscarriage. I was hit — and am still grappling with — grief (largely from ongoing fertility challenges) that I hardly could have imagined. As I look ahead to 2025, my focus is on prioritizing what brings me joy… and saying “no” to the stuff that doesn’t.
Aja: A few weeks ago, Aliza and some friends came over to make 2025 bingo cards — which we filled up with things like “have a weekly date night” and “write Galentine’s day letters”. It was really fun to do together… and it also made me excited, for the first time, about the coming year.
You’re the best! This was so much fun 💛
Love this crossover!
