Starting Solids & Baby Led Weaning
What BLW is, why we chose to do it with our boys, my favorite items for baby-feeding, and what the process has looked like for us thus far
Hi friends! Before we dive in to today’s piece, I want to remind everyone that this month’s Expert Chat is scheduled for Wednesday 5/15 @ 8PM EST. It will be a one-hour virtual event with Dr. Jaclyn Nofech-Mozes (this week’s podcast guest!) and will focus on parent/infant attachment and maternal mental health. All paid subscribers will be sent the zoom info the morning of the event!
Now on to this week’s Mom Musings. This one will be less journal style and more of a “guide” (or deep dive?). I have been getting so many questions about starting solids with our baby and everytime I post what he’s eating I keep saying I’m going to talk more about it, so here we are, I’m doing it! Before we dive in, I want to be VERY clear and state the obvious: I am not an expert in this topic. I am simply a mom going through it and sharing my journey. So nothing I say below is a “you must do or not do” whatsoever - it is simply my experience for you to take as you wish. You may go about things completely differently than I do and good for you!! Because that means you’re prioritizing what works for YOUR family, not mine.
In this piece we are going to get into what baby-led weaning (BLW) is, why I chose to do BLW for both of my boys, my favorite items for baby feeding, how we’re going about the process the second time around, and some of my favorite sources for this topic.
