Filling My Cup with Lots of Reading, Cozy Fall Fits, and Things That Might Woo You
This week's newsletter is fully stacked... we have polls on The Perfect Couple, comfortable heels (who knew), and a new segment!
Wow do I feel like we have a lot to cover, but I feel like I say that every week? At one point I remember thinking, “what would I fill a weekly newsletter with?” Now I feel like I have enough thoughts to write a debrief every day. Hello to my ADHD brain (speaking of which - I recorded the most incredible pod episode on this topic and cannot wait to share it with you soon!). Anyways, let’s get into it…
I want to start with a quick Substack update regarding our Expert Chats. While I’m not a fan of making changes or disappointing anyone, I’ve realized that I’m juggling too many things and needed to reassess. As a result, I’ve decided to put these chats on pause for now. If you have any feedback about this decision (or the chats in general), I am all ears!
Conversations with Cam
Conversations with Cam Live Show
I am SO excited for next month’s live podcast event!! I am also SO excited to announce the guests, two friends of mine that I am proud to say are incredible women, Emily Didonato and Lia Bartha! It is going to be such a blast. Come alone or with friends or a partner and spend a fun evening with us and the rest of the FF Fam!!
What I’m Watching
The Perfect Couple - Okay, I’m sorry, but this show was horrible. I felt like I was watching an SNL skit for a Netflix drama show?? It felt so overdone and absurd for no reason. I feel like HBO could’ve killed this show, especially with the cast, but the ball was dropped so bad. The acting felt off and I need to know who was in charge of Nicole’s wig choices. Either way, I wish I didn’t watch it and wouldn’t recommend until I was talking to my therapist about it and she said she loved it?! So I need to know…
What I’m Reading
NYTimes Article - I wish I was surprised about the surgeon general warning the public that parenting may be hazardous for mental health. However, given the support we have in this country, I am not. This article dove into this topic and explained why so many parents struggle and how parenting feels different in our current world than it did previously.
Downtime Substack - I’ve been reading more Substack publications and working on supporting authors in this space, and I am loving
. I really loved this post that explains her 3 rules to creating a more mindful and cohesive closet this fall. Something I am actively working on!Rejection is Redirection - It felt so cathartic to write this piece and I got so many kind messages about it. If you’re struggling with rejection in any area of your life, I hope this piece helps you!
Business Casual - Smut book alert!!! I am back in my ~smutty era~ and loved this story. It’s part of a series, perhaps the third book, but I read it as a standalone and could be read in any order. Tattoo artist, Nora, isn’t looking for love but decides to have a “business casual” rendezvous with a friend (buttoned-up investment banker) that turns into anything but casual. Written in male/female POVs with the classic “we won’t have feelings” agreement - checked off so many of my boxes!
What I’m Listening To
Pink Pony Club - I simply CANNOT stop playing this. So here it is for you to also have it stuck in your head 24/7
What I’m Wondering
I want to make this a new segment because I wish I had the ability to easily poll / ask you all questions and this seems like a fun way to do it!
What are you specifically shopping for this fall? What are you looking to add or hoping to upgrade? For me personally, I really want a cute corduroy pant and a couple of comfortable nice sweaters (I keep resorting back to this Jenni Kayne one). Let me know!!
What I’m Loving
Sam Edelman Heels - I love these heels so much. I wore them to DC, walked around all day, and can still recommend them as a smart purchase.
This Fall Fit - If you ask me what my ideal fall fit is (that feels elevated but is still comfortable), it’s this. I felt so good all day and will continuously go back to this all season.
Woo Play - (mom & dad, skip this part) I am such a proponent of using pleasure as a form of self care and this will definitely help. Thank me later!
Natural Cycles - I’ve been using natural cycles for awhile and it is so incredibly helpful (for pregnancy prevention but also to monitor my mental health) for cycle tracking. As I’ve mentioned, I feel really low around ovulation and this reminds me that I’m not losing my mind and helps me prepare for these inevitable shifts. Thanks Aunt Flo. What My Family is Loving
Coloring - My aunt gave our toddler a kid’s coloring book this past weekend and it has become our new favorite way to transition from after school play to bedtime. It is such a fun and relaxing way to connect with your little ones. We didn’t really have a “coloring” kid, but this is definitely starting to change.
Lightning McQueen Sweatshirt - For all the Cars fans out there, thank me later. This was such a hit and is so comfortable I kinda wish they made it in my size.
How I’m Filling My Cup
Leaning on My Husband - This week wasn’t the best mentally for me because I was ovulating and, truly, just overwhelmed. Joe really stepped up and made sure I was taking time to prioritize myself. I talk about this in the upcoming ADHD episode, but sometimes support looks like holding my hand through my routine at the end of the day. He also surprised me with a dinner with my best friend (that HE fully planned) so I could fill my cup and enjoy a relaxing evening. It was so intentional and sweet and it filled my cup big time.
Love the sentiment about your husband at the end! 🥹🫶
Happy last day of official summer! Love starting the weekend with you! I’m excited for all the Fall fits! Looking for a few pieces of color to add to the grayscale wardrobe! Or maybe lean in to all the brown I’m seeing! I’ve added your book recommendations to my list. Currently reading Husbands and Lovers. It’s started a little slow, but it’s picking up! I hope you have an amazing weekend with your sweet family! And Joe’s thoughtfulness is so special and thank you for sharing! 🤍🤍
